A charming pub experience
The pub area was inviting, and I found myself enjoying a delightful glass of English sparkling wine while admiring the garden view. The staff exhibited exceptional friendliness, making me feel right at home.
The room felt dated, with the bathroom showing signs of wear and a slightly weak shower pressure. It detracted from what would have otherwise been a perfect stay.

fantastic central spot for city strolls and park explorations
I loved the convenience of this hotel's location, which is just a few steps from the Nickey Line Rail walk, a beautiful path for walking, and only around 2 km from Batford Springs, perfect for enjoying nature views. it really enhanced my weekend exploring the area and discovering charming landmarks nearby like the Walled Garden and Harpenden Common Golf Club.

The outdoor space offers a pleasant garden view that enhances the overall ambiance.
The room felt cold, and the shower was a hassle—leaking from the control box made using hot water impossible. the menu lacked variety. the so-called sharing plates were oversized and overpriced, like a cricket ball-sized scotch egg and a poorly executed ragu. No breakfast options were available, and the pillows were among the worst I've encountered.

The room was spacious and comfortable, definitely a nice place to crash after a long day. I loved the coffee-making facilities—they really hit the spot in the morning! Staff were super welcoming too, which added to the overall vibe. Just a minor thing, I wished the room had better soundproofing. I could hear some noise from outside sometimes.
